The Church

Rather than simply being an organization, the church has been characterized as a living organism. This means that the church, if it is truly alive, will be dynamic and ever changing.  Membership in High Places is informal.  To the degree individuals or families want to be involved, they are members.

We strongly advocate that Church is not a physical building; it is people and any time two or more people of the faith are together, the church meets, regardless of the location. High Places has a facility which we refer to as our Church House and is known in the community as The Old Grove Theater.  Beyond this we are all about town.

High Places Main Meeting

Our usual meeting time is Sundays at 10:30 AM. This is a time for all High Places' people and interested others to connect in an open environment for both social and spiritual encouragement. Though by some standards, our main meeting may  not come across as a particularly in-depth church experience, many find it to be spiritually rich and stimulating.  The focus is to provide a non-threatening setting in which anyone can participate freely without fear of intimidation, especially those without a strong church identity or background.  Messages are relevant and there are many ways to serve - including presence and participation. Church veterans are challenged to our purpose which is to serve, encourage, and build positive bridges with others.

Mountain Movers - Children's Ministries

Children's and Nursery Ministries are available during the Sunday morning meeting and are led by a very capable team of leaders. Children age 0 to grade 6 generally meet in the front areas of The Grove.  On occasion, children meet with the entire church. Special children's events take place at other times.

"Off The Wall" - Youth Ministries

Our youth ministry for students in grades 6-12 meets Wednesdays at 6:30 PM at the Church House. For  teaching purposes these groups are most often broken down into separate age groupings. Games, skits, music, food and special events provide great fellowship and enhance openness to youth-related Bible study themes.   A Discipling/Mentoring ministry is available for youth that want to dig deeper spiritually. Special events for outreach and growth are scheduled every six to eight weeks.

Adult Ministries

Adult Ministries are organized around three general age groupings.  Bible studies & special activities are provided throughout the year.  Pastoral Counseling is available as needed.
